MINUTES OF THE NEW MEXICO CAR COUNCIL GENERAL MEETING FOR
MARCH 22, 2023, by Joyce Clements
In the absence of the President, Vice President, and Secretary, John (JD) Doran called the meeting to order at 7:07pm. The sign-in sheet was passed to the eleven attendees.
It was brought to the attention of all that we were using the Manzano Mesa facility rent-free, and the personnel there were quite friendly and helpful to our needs.
Nick Manole, President of the Cadillac-LaSalle Club, introduced himself and talked about the Grand National Cadillac-LaSalle meet to be in Albuquerque, June 20-25, at the Marriott Pyramid. The meet will feature many Cadillacs and LaSalles from across the country. There will be educational and entertainment programs, as well as a judged show. Anyone is allowed to enter the show if they are a member of the national club. Membership is $40 per year, and the meet entry is $75 plus cost of meals. Contact Nick at nmanole@aol.com if you want more details. Nick joined the NMCCC as their representative.
Mark Torres introduced himself as the new representative for the American Truck Historical Society. His contact information is mtorres4321@icloud.com. Welcome, Mark.
Joe gave a treasury report, and we still have money, but may need to come up with an event to add to the bank. Our CD collected $0.30 interest. Bills are currently paid, but the insurance is pending. With the new City requirements for the Car Show, additional insurance will add $30 to the cost, making it $380 per year.
Joyce gave an update on the Car Show and asked for an increase in the budget. She has a volunteer to print window cards and post cards for no charge. The Museum will print entry forms and instructions for us, plus tickets and a list of exhibits. $387.95 has already been spent for dash plaques, and they are here. We will mail postcards announcing the show, and that cost will be about $250. Posters will cost about $100 to print, and we will pay for water and ice out front. We estimate at least 200 cars, and probably more, at $10 entry each. With that in mind, Joyce asked for an $1100 budget, and we will probably double that in income. A motion was made and passed to increase the budget. A sheet for volunteers to help was passed, and several signed up. More have made a verbal commitment to help. Thank you all for volunteering. It’s going to be a fun show: May 21, at the Albuquerque Museum, no trophies but goodie bags, dash plaques and Museum entry tickets. All makes and models are invited.
Joe announced that the Oak Flat Picnic Area has been reserved for the All Clubs Picnic on August 13. It will be a “Bring Your Own Lunch” affair, with the Council covering the cost of the rental use. No music will be provided. Joyce will arrange for the creation of a flyer.
July 8 will be Collector Car Appreciation Day. A certificate from the State is being arranged. We wish to plan an informal cruise to a destination where participants can buy refreshments for themselves. If we try for an official cruise, it will require a City permit. Angela Vigil volunteered to investigate some possibilities. If anyone has ideas, please send them to her at gopackgo123@hotmail.com.
September 24 we will meet at the Smith’s at Tramway and East Central, and cruise to the Enchanted Trails RV Park on West Central (Route 66). Cruise will start at 10am, and end at the RV Park in time for lunch. Michelle Garcia is organizing this. The show will be themed “Nostalgia Day”, and drivers are encouraged to dress in era clothing. There will be a DJ, food truck, cotton candy, sno-cones, and more. Michelle has a volunteer to print flyers. No entry fee or trophies, since the event is on a tight budget per Joe.
Greg Nelson noted the passing of Geoff Johnson, owner of a beautiful Pontiac convertible, a Pontiac sedan and several Corvairs. Geoff had been ill for some time and passed away earlier in the day. Geoff was a really nice, friendly participant in various shows, and was occasionally seen driving his old cars around town, just for the fun of it. He will be missed.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:06pm.
Respectfully submitted, Joyce Clements, Conscripted Secretary

MINUTES OF THE NEW MEXICO CAR COUNCIL GENERAL MEETING FOR
FEBRUARY 22, 2023, by Bill Lemen, Secretary
At 7:01 President Robert called the meeting to order. The meeting saw roughly 20 in attendance. Sign up and guest sheets went around. Please sign in. Introductions were made. Special thanks to Joe again for the doughnuts! We got our treasurers report and we have money. Robert gave his update. Ron will be filling in for Robert as Mr. Gold is going to Washington. He hasn’t been drafted, he’s visiting his son. Elections are being held June. Nominees should be appointed in April. Ballets will be finalized in May, and elections will be held in June. There was some discussion on changing the bi-laws be modified to include more opportunities to get more non active members on the board. It was passed that this would be a “one time” modification as any sweeping changes need to be addressed through actual by law changes. Look for further developments as we move towards election time. Joyce was introduced to give us an update on the May Car show. Looks like everything is moving along. We are working out some details with our insurance coverage. We don’t anticipate any issues, we just need to work out the logistics. New bureaucrats, new BS. The theme for the show is “75 years of Fins” Sunday May 21st. Be there or be square ! July 8th is collector car appreciation day. August 13 is the all clubs picnic. Please mark it in your calendar. We discussed our September event. Michele gave us an update in that we are having an issue with the Unser museum. We are apparently looking at other venues. We are still looking to put this together, so any input would be appreciated. September 24th is the date. That’s firm. Now just the details. Continue to check your newsletter, as well as the council website for upcoming events, or any changes to planned events. See you in March, and if you have anything you’d like to add please let us know. Also please attend as many events as you can. Robert sent us home at 8:06 See ya on the road. Your secretary

MINUTES OF CAR COUNCIL GENERAL MEETING FOR JANUARY 25, 2023
New Mexico Council of Car Clubs By Bill Lemen, Secretary
Welcome to 2023! January kicked off our season and started the year off with a board meeting at our usual spot. The board and some interested members got together to go over the events and discuss budgets for said events. Think unless something spectacular happens looks like we have come to the conclusion a swap meet is not in our future. The events we discussed are the car show, collector car appreciation day, and the all clubs picnic. The car show is set for May 21st. The other two main events are still in limbo date wise. We will set those dates, and have money earmarked in the budget for those events. We are also looking at doing an event or two throughout the year to raise awareness for the council. Copies of purposed budgets and expenses are available up request. Michelle discussed the possibility of a cruise and rockabilly event in the spring. The budget was voted on and passed. Obviously this is a fluid document and we will look to our members to add their prospective and help. Robert called the regular meeting in at 7:00 and gave his welcoming address. We discussed member clubs and how we can increase club representation. We had roughly 20 in attendance for the general meeting. Joe gave us the money report and discussed the budget on a 30,000 foot view. We also then discussed the 2023 newsletter and what that looks like going forward. Robert gave an overview of the election schedule as well an overview of what the meetings will look like going forward. Obviously we appreciate any member input for the betterment of the organization. We discussed the recent “noise bill” that is being discussed in the city council. This could be something that definitely effects the car hobby. As a council, we will make available the information, and suggest that you individually or as a club contact your city council member or state legislator to let your opinion be known. Sadly we as a council cannot lend our name to an opinion, but strongly encourage our members to let their voices be heard. There are several pieces of legislation to keep an eye out for. Joyce gave us an update on our first event, the May car show. Theme is tail fins, and it will be a NON trophy show. We also discussed how showcase the car council. We will come up with a “bio” sheet and have that available at the show at the registration desk, as well as car to car flyers. That took the bulk of the meeting. Robert adjourned the meeting at 8:00. See you next month, and think about what we can do for a successful 2023. See you the 22nd of February.
